Four Housing, North Star Housing Group and Two Castles Housing Association have jointly procured the day-to-day and void maintenance repairs deal, which is worth more than £13m over a four-year term.

Their chosen contractors are: PF Burridge & Sons from Newcastle; Sunter in Houghton-le-Spring; and the Esh Group, with bases in Cramlington and Durham.

Together they will look after more than 11,000 properties.

With repair prices fixed for four years, the arrangement is expected to deliver an 18% reduction in overall responsive repair costs for each housing association.

Two Castles already operates a similar procurement partnership with another housing association in Cumbria, where it has achieved 10% cost savings.
