Indian win for Shaft Sinkers

10 May 12 UK-based shaft-sinking and underground construction group Shaft Sinkers Holdings has won a contract in the Bhilwara district of India, bringing its current order book to £401m.

The contract, awarded by Hindustan Zinc, includes the sinking of the main shaft as well as the north and south ventilation shafts at the Rampura Agucha mine.

"This is a significant development for Shaft Sinkers and an important step in our international growth strategy,” said chief executive Alon Davidov. “The contract award from Hindustan Zinc Limited is particularly pleasing, given its dominant position in India and the potential future opportunities that may arise."

Work will start immediately and is scheduled to be completed in 2017.
