ISG secured 3.5 million with Dudley Council

26 Aug 10 ISG has secured a 3.5 million project with Dudley Council to remodel Hawbush Primary School.

The scheme, part of the government’s Primary Capital Programme initiative, sees the contractor carry out comprehensive modernisation works at the existing school, involving partial rebuild, demolition and refurbishment of the retained facilities. Two new single storey structures will be built providing six new classrooms.

ISG will upgrade the façade of the existing school buildings and create a new main entrance, extensively remodelling accommodation to improve circulation space and provide modern teaching areas. Designed to achieve a very good BREEAM environmental performance rating, the new buildings will incorporate a raft of sustainable features including a green sedum roof, photovoltaic cells, sun pipes and ISG will also install a biomass boiler.

Exterior façade treatments include brick, cedar shingle cladding and coloured render and a continuous canopy will provide flexible external learning and play areas. ISG will also carry out a large externals package, which includes hard and soft landscaping elements.

The project will be carried out in a live environment and is being carefully phased to minimise disruption, with the scheme due to commence early September and scheduled for completion in February 2012.
