Jacobs JV wins Australian treatment plant

29 Jan 14 A joint venture between Jacobs’ recent acquisition Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) and Thiess has signed a AU$82m (£49m) contract for a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) near Perth, Australia.

The contract with Water Corporation of Western Australia is for the design, construction and commissionioning of the East Rockingham WWTP.  It will be carried out as an alliance contract, where all participants share the project risks.

Under the terms of the contract, the Task JV is working in an integrated team with Water Corporation to deliver the greenfield project. The site of the East Rockingham WWTP is in an industrial area with an environmental buffer zone, and construction is expected to be completed by December 2015.

Jacobs executive vice president Santo Rizzuto said: “The Task JV combines Thiess’ construction, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation experience with our industry leading wastewater treatment design and commissioning capability. We look forward to working closely with Water Corporation to help them meet their goals for the East Rockingham WWTP.”
