Jacobs to manage Doha Red Line project

7 Aug 13 Qatar Railways has awarded Jacobs Engineering Group a project management consultancy contract for the north and south sections of the Red Line on the US$36bn (£27bn) Doha Metro project.

The project part of the first phase of the metro, which involves 58 miles of track to include the Red, Green and Gold lines. The entire network is anticipated to cover approximately 134 miles and include 100 stations.

Jacobs is managing the delivery of the underground works for the Red Line, 16 miles running from Mesaieed in the south through the centre of Doha to Al Khor in the north. The line also branches to the new international airport. Jacobs will be providing project management and engineering services for the underground sections of the Red Line, working in an integrated project team with Qatar Rail’s project staff.

Vinci and Qatari Diar won a €1.5bn (£1.27bn) contract in June to design and build the southern part of the Red Line.
