Paul Ellis, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, was managing director of Limen Construction Ltd based in Strood.

At Maidstone Crown Court yesterday he was sentenced to 18 months in jail for stealing almost £65,000 from the business.

A management meeting at the company in February 2011 uncovered a hole in the books. After an internal investigation, Ellis was suspended in July 2011 and given the chance to pay it back. He repaid £33,000 but after he was unable to raise any more, he was sacked.
