JCB donates more machines to Nepal

14 May 15 A second massive earthquake in Nepal has prompted JCB to donate more machinery to the emergency rescue, relief and reconstruction effort.

JCB is sending four more machines, including compact skid steer loaders, a pick-and-carry crane and a Loadall telescopic handler, representing another £160,000 donation.

Two weeks ago JCB made a donation of £650,000-worth of machinery when a first earthquake shook Nepal. Ten backhoe loaders were immediately made available to the Nepalese Army by the local JCB dealer after the 7.8 quake caused widespread death and destruction.

On Tuesday this week a second big quake hit, measuring 7.3. The extent of further death and destruction is still being counted.

JCB chairman Lord Bamford said: “As the days have gone by our Nepalese dealer has advised of the need for small and manoeuvrable machines which can access confined areas and machines which can lift and place heavy loads.  JCB is happy to respond with the donation of an additional four machines, particularly as the country has now suffered a second earthquake. ”
