Full product launch follows customer evaluation at specialist waste management operations around the UK.

JCB has also developed new Loadall telehandlers for waste handling and skid steer attachments. This, however, is its first machine specifically designed for this sector from the ground up.

The 20-tonne JS20MH is targeted at public and private waste management companies handling municipal solid waste (MSW) in civic amenity sites, transfer stations, materials recycling facilities (MRFs) and also specialist material recycling companies.

Set to join JCB’s JS200W Wastemaster – a conventional wheeled excavator adapted for the needs of scrap and waste handling industries - the JS20MH is purpose built for waste handling. It has a new undercarriage design and has a centralised slew turret for increased all-round stability and uniform lift performance through 360 degree rotation.

JCB says that the result is “consistent operation and true material handler characteristics, aided further by a slew gear box which delivers increased slew accuracy while loading”.

The JS20MH will be available with fixed or hydraulically raised cab for loading containers, giving improved vision and safety on site.

It is powered by the 97kW JCB Dieselmax engine and fitted with a 5.7m straight boom. Options are a 4m gooseneck dipper for scrap applications or a shorter 3m straight dipper for waste applications – each creating a smaller rig than the JS200W Wastemaster. The maximum achievable pin reach is 9.5m.
