The family-owned firm, which is headquartered in Ruthin and saw turnover rise by almost a quarter to £46m last year, has maintained its recession-defying growth by expanding into the south of England and South Wales. It follows the opening of Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK’s Scottish office in January.
The new southern operation will focus on the southern counties of England, as well as South Wales.
The southern team, whose four members have more than 100 years’ industry experience between them, will be led by newly-appointed regional manager Neil Beresford.
The 52-year-old, a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and former chairman of the Civil Engineering Contractors’ Association (CECA), is relishing the challenge.
He said: “Jones Bros is a family-owned firm which is rightly proud of its Welsh roots, but it is cosmopolitan in its outlook and offers a professional management service to its clients.
“We aim to strengthen the service and support we offer to customers in the southern half of the UK, and broaden our client offering while retaining our core expertise.

Founded in the 1950s, Jones Bros has grown rapidly in the last decade and now employs 270 people in total. The privately-owned firm is currently working on around 20 projects around the UK.
In Wales, these include new sea defences at Tywyn, Meirionnydd, the £35m Porthmadog bypass in partnership with Balfour Beatty and a new eco-friendly visitor centre at Aberthaw power station, near Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Jones Bros recently marked completion of a £20m contract to build the infrastructure for the 60-turbine Crystal Rig II windfarm in Dunbar, Scotland – one of Britain’s most powerful onshore windfarms. The two-year project enabled the firm to open the Scottish office, in Linlithgow.
The new southern office, in Swansea, will act as a base for the entire southern region and will allow client response times to be improved.
Working alongside Neil will be regional commercial manager Ken Stacey, regional contracts manager Joe McLaughlin and regional pre-contracts manager Martin Edmonds.
