Kent school upgrade for Willmott Dixon

14 May 13 Willmott Dixon has penned a £16.7m contract for new and refurbished buildings at Knole Academy in Kent.

Working with the architect Hunters, Willmott Dixon’s Dartford office will provide a range of new facilities by the start of term in September 2014.

These include an outdoor climbing wall, conference and performance space that can seat up to 300, a recording studio, a Sixth Form Centre, a Business, Economics and ICT area, ‘A' level Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories, plus new graphics and art suite. Also, an all-weather sports pitch will open in August 2013.

Much of these facilities will be in a new three-storey building. Existing academy buildings will be refurbished to provide a dance studio and a fitness suite, while improving the history, geography and languages areas with a new suite of rooms.

Willmott Dixon Capital Works CEO John Frankiewicz said: “We are very proud to be working with a number of different schools across the country now – existing schools, academies, new Free Schools and University Technical Colleges. This track record of delivery enables us to improve our offer all of the time, working with the client, the school and local community to create places where young people can thrive and reach their full potential.”
