Kubota refreshes eight-tonner

10 May 13 Kubota has updated its eight-tonne mini excavator to meet EU Stage IIIB engine emissions regulations.

With an operating weight of up to 8.7 tonnes, the KX080-4 is the biggest machine in the KX-4 range and replaces the KX080-3.

It is powered by a new 4-cylinder Kubota direct injection diesel engine with common rail system (CRS), exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and diesel particulate filter (DPF). The CRS electronically controls the fuel injection timing and amount in stages, rather than all at once, to deliver optimum combustion, Kubota says.

Kubota’s Eco Plus feature results in a claimed 18% reduction on fuel usage compared to the previous KX080-3 model.

Other features fitted as standard include Kubota’s Auto Idling System, two proportional control auxiliary circuits, a safety valve on the boom and arm, and the Kubota anti-theft device.
