Leadbitter wins first contracts under the Integrate framework in Wales

16 Jan 12 The Leadbitter Group has won two new contracts as part of the Integrate Consortium framework in Wales. The four-year framework, created by a consortium of seven housing associations, invites contractors to tender for new build housing contracts across Wales.

Newydd Housing Association, part of the consortium, appointed Leadbitter as contractor on the first two projects to be released under the framework and the company will start work in early 2012.

Leadbitter will construct 24 houses on Rose Row in Aberdare and a further four homes in Elfed Avenue in Penarth, which will be built to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5. These highly energy efficient houses will support the Integrate Consortium objective to secure better value for money and greater sustainability in the development of housing.

Paul Roberts, Chief Executive of Newydd Housing Association said, “As a member of the Integrate Consortium we have access to a greater pool of shared resources and can achieve higher quality but more cost effective services through collaborative working. We look forward to our partnership with the Leadbitter Group and the completion of our exciting new developments in Aberdare and Penarth, allowing us to provide affordable homes for rent to people where need is at its greatest.”

Leadbitter will also be working with the Integrate Consortium to maximise opportunities for jobs and training through its community engagement programme. This will help to boost local employment figures and make a positive contribution to the economy.

Russell Houghton, Regional Director of Leadbitter’s Western Housing division, said, “We are very proud that the Integrate Consortium has appointed us to the first two projects on the framework. It is a testament to the work that we do to build housing in a way that has a low impact on environment, but a positive impact on the communities in which we work.”
