Gary Mail, previously construction director, moves up to succeed Mr Hyde as managing director. He now takes the lead in terms of the day-to-day management of Thomas Vale with ultimate responsibility for all business related activities and functions. Gary will also join the Bouygues UK Leadership Team.

Peter Hood is now construction director.

Mr Hyde, pictured below, will retain a personal focus on key business clients in the Midlands area. He also remains Bouygues UK’s director responsible for corporate responsibility.

Madani Sow, chairman of Bouygues UK, said: “As long-standing members of the senior management team of Thomas Vale, Tony and Gary have a true understanding of our clients’ needs and the local Midlands marketplace in which we operate. This coupled with their leadership qualities, extensive industry knowledge and proven business plan delivery, will enhance the performance of the Thomas Vale business in the future and help us to maintain our market-leading position in the area.”

Mr Hyde said: “Thomas Vale, our clients and the fantastic people that work with us, have been a huge part of my life since I joined in the business in 1980, so of course, I am delighted to take on the chairman role and be given the opportunity in such an exciting time in the development of the business.

“I couldn’t retire just yet…the challenge is just too exciting.”
