Leighton to build ‘super luxury’ Indian scheme

2 Sep 13 Leighton has been awarded the main contract to build a ‘super luxury’ residential development in Gurgaon, India.

The  AUD$246m (£141m) Camellias development will occupy a site area of approximately 18 acres and a built-up area of 406,000m2. The project includes the building of nine tower blocks of between 19 and 38 floors with three continuous basement levels. Overall, the development will house 431 apartments, including 14 penthouses.

Construction will involve a mixture of traditional RCC frames, post-tensioned slabs and external GRC structures. Landscaping will include a one-acre lake and a 6,000m2 clubhouse facility with an auditorium, pool and gymnasium.

The project scope also encompasses fit-out works to a number of apartments and the management and logistics support for the balance of customer fit-out works.

Leighton Welspun and DLF have committed to provide enhanced facilities for the workforce and will provide a training centre to maximise the education of safe work practices for the crews.

The contract will begin in the third quarter of 2013 for completion by the third quarter of 2017.
