Leighton to build mega reservoirs in Qatar

7 Apr 15 Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has won a QR2.2bn (£405m) construction contract for what are claimed to be the world’s largest reinforced concrete reservoirs.

The contract for Qatar’s General Electricity & Water Corporation, Kahramaa, is for the third phase of the Mega Reservoir Primary Reservoir & Pumping Stations project (PRPS). It involves the construction of reservoirs with a capacity of 100 million gallons each. They will be built at the 100ha PRPS facility at Rawdat Rashed.

HLG has already carried out six contracts for Kahramaa, includig the pipelines for the reservoir complex.

The project will begin this month and is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2018.
