Lend Lease takes £100m barracks scheme

1 Nov 13 Lend Lease Construction has seen off competition to win a £100m contract to redevelop Beacon Barracks in Stafford for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.

As previously reported, Kier, Carillion and Skanska were also invited to submit final bids four months ago. The value of Lend Lease's contract is a full £30m below the initial £130m estimate.

Lend Lease will start work straight away to construct 25 new buildings and refurbish eight existing ones.The work will enable two signal regiments to relocate from Germany to Beacon Barracks – 6 Signal Regiment currently based in Elmpt and 1 Armoured Division Signal Regiment1 based in Herford will relocate to the UK in the summer of 2015.

During the redevelopment the site will continue to be home to 22 Signal Regiment and the Tactical Supply Wing (RAF).
