Coupled with this change, Hannah Livesey is taking over as the regional finance lead and Lauren Turnidge as the regional HR lead.

For Mace, Western Europe covers all countries within the European Economic Area, excluding the UK, with a primary focus on existing countries of operation and maintaining the ability to service its global clients across key European locations.

From the London hub office, Welch will provide in-country teams with greater corporate support, as well as seeking opportunities to expand operations across the region to service global clients.

Welch joined Mace on the graduate scheme in 1997 and spent her first seven years delivering a variety of projects across the UK. She moved to International in late 2004, initially based in Asia and then Russia. Since relocating back to the UK, she has consolidated the UK-based international businesses which deliver projects for private and public sector clients globally, as well as helping Mace respond to one-off projects and enter new markets. More recently M Secure, Mace’s specialist global secure fit-out contracting business, which is run by Richard Rogers, moved under her remit.

"This is an exciting new challenge for me and I look forward to working closely with Jochen Kinau, Carlos Cruz, Carlos Armero, Shiraz Douik and Pawel Pajchel, alongside my existing teams, to help develop an efficient and agile base from which we can continue to deliver Mace’s 2020 strategy," said Welch.

Marcus Burley, COO for the international business added: “I am confident that with Barbara’s global experience, coupled with her appreciation of the overall Mace business, she will be able to provide the existing Western European businesses with the support they need to continue to drive growth across the region. I’m sure that everyone will give Barbara their full support and cooperation in this new role.”
