McAlpine seeks Cumbrian subbies

10 Jun 15 Sir Robert McAlpine has won a £25m contract in Barrow-in-Furness and is now looking to put a supply chain in place to deliver it.

Sir Robert McAlpine has been selected for the construction of a 7,300m2 paint facility and is due to start in November 2015.

The contractor is now looking for local supply chain partners including joiners, plumbers, decorators, metal workers and flooring specialists.

A supplier engagement day is being held next week, 15th June, at the Abbey House Hotel in Barrow-in-Furness. Local building trades are invited to go along and meet McAlpine purchasers.

Angus Stockwell, chief buyer for NE & Scotland at Sir Robert McAlpine, said: “We’re keen to enhance our regional supply chain in Cumbria to complete this project. Our procurement staff will be on hand to talk businesses through our criteria and answer any questions on how best to apply. We’re looking forward to engaging with local subcontractors and service providers and discussing how we can best work together.”
