Kresen Kernow (Cornish for Cornwall Centre) will bring together Cornwall Record Office, the Cornish Studies Library and the Cornwall & Scilly Historic Environment Record to create the world’s largest collection of manuscripts, books and documents relating to Cornwall.

It will also safeguard the historic Redruth Brewery building at the heart of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. The brewery has been a part of the town’s landscape since the 1790s. It closed in 2004 and a fire in 2011 destroyed much of the remaining buildings.

The project secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2015. Copletion is scheduled for late 2018.

The architect for the project is Purcell, engineer is Arup and quantity surveyor is Mace.
