The contract was awarded to Morgan Sindall through the Constructing West Midlands (CWM) framework for Birmingham City Council (BCC).

On completion, the offices will be occupied by the Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES), which will relocate from the two sites it currently occupies.

The £1.6m refurbishment includes a redesign of the entrance, creation of a main reception and a purpose built workshop for woodwork and upholstery classes on the ground floor. The open plan layout of the first and second floors of the building will be reconfigured to provide nine classrooms for specific courses.

All three floors will be stripped out and new fixtures and fittings installed. These will include a mix of solid and glazed partitions to create the new classrooms, thermostatically controlled heating and refurbishments to the existing lift car.

The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of August, in time for the start of the new term in September.
