He has been directed to focus efforts on specific target markets.
Mr Scard was previously managing director for construction in the south for Morgan Sindall, where he had worked for 23 years.
Miller Construction chief executive Chris Webster said: “Stephen will be responsible for driving our strategy forward in the southeast, which sees us focussing our efforts on selected markets and promoting Miller as a market leader. We are confident his wealth of knowledge and experience will be a real asset to our business.”
Mr Scard said: “I am pleased to have joined the Miller Construction team and was attracted by the company’s strategy to focus on selected markets and customers which will underpin its medium and long term ambitions.
“I was also impressed by the Miller culture which is very people focussed and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues from across the business to help drive the strategy forward.”
Stephen Scard is the latest in a series of senior recruits at Miller Construction lately, following the arrival Charlie Dunn as regional MD for Scotland in October 2012 and Jeremy Bowley and Nick Salt as procurement director and director of rail, respectively, earlier this year.
