The project will see Morgan Sindall’s construction arm work alongside its Overbury fit-out subsidiary.

Together they will extend and refurbish the Wilson House halls of residence at Sussex Gardens in London. The architect on the project is Berman Guedes Stretton, with Morgan Sindall overseeing the design elements of the development.

Wilson House comprises a terrace of 21 listed buildings that have been converted by Imperial to serve as student halls of residence.

Overbury will refurbish the existing student accommodation in Wilson House while Morgan Sindall is constructing a new development at  the rear of the site, increasing the total number of bed spaces in the  accommodation from 273 to 393.

Overbury contracts manager Chris Mann said: “This important project sees Overbury and Morgan Sindall joining forces to use our significant experience and expertise in the higher education sector to deliver an outstanding student accommodation development for Imperial College London.

“We are enjoying working with Imperial College to deliver this high-quality development that reflects the needs and values of a world-class university.”

The new build portion of the development is on track to attain a BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating of ‘Excellent’ and is due to complete later this year.
