Morrison wins £42m psychiatric hospital redevelopment

9 Jul 13 Morrison Construction has been selected as preferred contractor for the first phase of the £41.8m redevelopment of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.

Morrison Construction will build a new 15,500 sqm specialist mental health facility on the west edge of the existing campus in Morningside, Edinburgh. When operational the facility will provide services for the adult acute mental health inpatient service, intensive psychiatric care, national brain injury unit, mental health rehabilitation and older people's mental health assessment and treatment services.

The appointment was made by hub South East Scotland on behalf of NHS Lothian.

Morrison Construction is part of the Galliford Try group. Galliford Try's facilities management business has also been appointed preferred bidder to provide hard facilities maintenance and lifecycle management for the building. This contract will be worth approximately £18m over the 25 year concession period.
