The project is being developed by the Highways Agency as part of the national strategic road network improvement strategy and is one of the four schemes chosen for progression under the accelerated delivery programme.
The award will see the MMG JV working closely with the Highways Agency to support the scheme through to the development phase towards construction, with the possibility of providing support throughout the construction and handover phase.
Stephen Russell, MMG JV director, said: “Our focus will be to work collaboratively with Costain and their partners to deliver an efficient and innovative integrated design and apply lean practices which will deliver added-value to the Highways Agency. We look forward to delivering this project through the development stage and ultimately through to the road opening stage, which is currently planned for 2016.”
