She is chair of Women in Architecture, vice chair of Architects for Change at RIBA and a former CABE Enabler.
Ms Devine was a board director at Shepheard Epstein Hunter, set up the London office of Cambridgeshire-based Ruddle Wilkinson, and was a director at Capita Symonds Architecture. In 2011 she became a partner of ARC Atelier, a practice which brings together architecture, research and communication.
“We’re delighted that Clare Devine is joining us,” said Design Council chief executive John Mathers. “This is a really exciting time for the Design Council as we continue to develop a sustainable architecture and built environment portfolio. We champion great design, and Clare will be an extremely valuable asset in our mission to improve lives and make things better."
Ms Devine herself said: “I’m looking forward to working with people across the Design Council team to promote design as a powerful vehicle in the improvement of places and lives.”
