Nixon Hire opens Saudi depots

14 Nov 13 Construction equipment rental and dealer business Nixon Hire has formed a joint venture that will lead to two new depots opening in Saudi Arabia.

Until now, it's only overseas operation has been in Qatar.

Under a deal with Sheikh Hizam Zidan Al-Qahtani, chairman of Al Jeri Transportation Group, Nixon will open its first Saudi depot immediately in Jeddah with a further depot planned for Riyadh in the near future.

Both parties have agreed financial commitments to raise more than £12m of new rental assets to ensure enough equipment is available to customers.

Joint managing director Graham Nixon said: “We are incredibly pleased to be working with such as well respected business and looking forward to a successful partnership.”

The two companies have already been working together for several months to finalise the business plans.

"Nixon Hire opened our first Middle East depot in Doha, Qatar in 2009 and in the five years we've been trading we've continued to learn a lot about the market differences in comparison to the UK and successfully adapted our business model accordingly," Graham Nixon said.

“We have seen our customer base develop and grow very quickly and we are confident that this is as a result of good quality equipment and excellent customer service provided by our team. As well as growth in rental activity we have also seen a steady increase in used equipment sales."

The Middle East is presenting many additional opportunities for Nixon Hire at the moment, he added, most notably the infrastructure development associated with the 2022 World Cup.
