NMC wins Blackburn road improvements

5 Nov 14 North Midland Construction (NMC) has started work on a £4.8m road improvement scheme in Blackburn.

NMC is widening a 700m section of road between Copy Nook and Furthergate to provide public transport priority into and out of Blackburn town centre. It is also constructing a 1.1km link road between Burnley Close and the Red Lion roundabout. The purpose is to improve accessibility to Blackburn town centre and enable future regeneration projects.

NMC was appointed by Capita, the consulting engineer on the scheme for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.

Geoff Poyzer, director of NMC’s highways & utilities division of NMC said: “We have a strong history of working on complex schemes of this nature, and in particular, maintaining traffic flows throughout construction to minimise disruption to local road users. This is an important project that will improve access to the town for the people of Blackburn and the surrounding area.”

The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2015.
