Ocon team give it their best shot for charity

3 Dec 10 The team from Ocon may have proved that they are more at home on a building site than a shooting range at the construction firm’s charity clay pigeon shoot recently, but they still managed to raise £500 for The Echoes Foundation, a charity for children with special needs.

Ocon arranged the charity shoot at Cloudside shooting ground in Knutsford, Cheshire, as a thank you to the project teams that have recently completed student accommodation projects in Loughborough and Exeter.  Members of the Ocon team were joined by subcontractors who worked on the jobs and all donned their rifles to fight it out for the title of Top Gun.  In the end, the honour went to Anthony Burton from subcontractor, Rapide Drylining, but all concerned enjoyed giving it their best shot.

Explains managing director of Ocon, Andrew Barker: “Both the Exeter and Loughborough schemes were quite challenging projects with demanding programmes and both have been completed on time, within budget and with zero defects.  We wanted to say congratulations to all involved on completing such successful schemes and it seemed like a great opportunity to raise some money for charity at the same time.”

Rather than chipping in to a prize fund, all the competitors made a donation to the charity pot and Ocon topped this up to a round £500.  The prize for Anthony was to nominate his chosen charity and now The Echoes Foundation will benefit from his shooting skills.
