Ogilvie starts on Aberdeen school

23 May 14 Ogilvie Construction has begun construction of a new £10.5m primary school in Aberdeen for Hub North Scotland.

The new Brimmond School is being built on the site of the former Newhills School. It will cater for 420 pupils and have 80 nursery places.

The project is the latest in Aberdeen to be delivered using the hub model, in which Hub North Scotland has been appointed as a development partner and leads the project.

The new school building is expected to be open by August 2015. Outdoor facilities include a cycle track, an all weather sports court, an adventure playground,  and a woodland wildlife area.

Hub North Scotland chief executive Angus Mcfarlane said: “Hub North Scotland’s role is to deliver first class community facilities and this project is another example of that. It is rewarding to see momentum building and communities beginning to benefit from the partnership approach.”

Ogilvie Construction managing director Donald MacDonald said that he was delighted.
