The programme of work will see the modernisation of 18,000m2 of office space to provide the space for DfE staff.

Mace is working with BDP as lead designer and building services consultant Hoare Lea.

Work includes demolition and strip out, creation of structural openings, asbestos removal, installation of new mechanical and electrical system and general fit out. The aim is to have a main contractor start on site next year and complete by mid-2017.

The published contract notice puts the value of the contract in the range of £45m to £50m, which is substantially more than the £30m to £40m figure that appeared in a prior information notice in the EU Official Journal just a couple of weeks ago..
