The housing complex, off Childwall Valley Road, is specifically for the over-55s. There will be 68 flats and two bungalows.

Riverside project manager for regeneration Annette Dennett said: “The scheme is designed to provide high-quality housing specifically for the over-55s, from elderly supported housing, to more independent living.  We don’t want it to feel like traditional old people’s homes. It will be high-quality living for people with different levels of dependence. In addition, the new homes will help to address the local demand for smaller properties for affordable rent, as well as low-cost home ownership.”

Lovell regional director Nigel Yates says: “This scheme will create well-designed, modern accommodation, providing older residents with access to different levels of support to suit their needs. Our team is delighted to be starting work on this much-needed development.”  The new housing is set to be completed in December 2014.
