Olympic Park to become 'Silicon Valley' after Games

4 Nov 10 David Cameron will announce details today of how the Olympic Park in Stratford, east London, will become a hi-tech hub to rival California's Silicon Valley after the 2012 Games.

The prime minister will say he wants to create the right environment for start-ups to thrive and grow into multimillion pound global businesses.

Google, Facebook, Intel and McKinsey & Co are among the companies that will commit to invest in the future of the area, Cameron will reveal.

He will also say: "Silicon Valley is the leading place in the world for hi-tech growth and innovation. But there's no reason why it has to be so predominant.

"Our ambition is to bring together the creativity and energy of Shoreditch and the incredible possibilities of the Olympic Park to help make east London one of the world's great technology centres."
