While visitor numbers were perhaps suppressed by wet weather, total unique visitor numbers over the three days was officially put at 9,445.
“It was not perhaps as high as we expected but what we did deliver was quality visitors,” the organisers said.
Plantworx took place at Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry, 14-16 May 2013. The event is owned by the Construction Equipment Association, which represents manufacturers of plant and ancillary equipment.
Certainly the exhibitors seemed generally satisfied with the show. Jason Howlett, director of Caterpillar distributor Finning, which had one of the larger stands, said: “Finning has enjoyed a truly successful Plantworx 2013, with sales successes for all Cat partners at the stand. This includes deals completed for used and new equipment, power systems, product support and our compact dealerships. For the first show of its kind we are encouraged by the profile of visitors and exhibitors alike, showing an increased confidence in the market.”
Terex UK sales and marketing manager Lyle Sibbald said: “We’ve been working hard to bring new machines and developments to our customers and Plantworx provided the perfect platform to show them off.”
The Construction Index, a media partner of the event, also exhibited. Publisher Paul Buist said: “Plantworx was a great opportunity for us to show the construction industry what we offer. Our website has now been going six years and the magazine has been growing month on month since its launch last year. With our various online, print and mobile products we can now confidently state that we reach more UK construction contractors than any other trade media organisation.”
