While rain blighted the event in the afternoon, it was less heavy than forecasts had indicated. Several exhibitors, including Volvo and Terex, expressed satisfaction with stand traffic and event organisation.
The day began on an upbeat note with BBC Breakfast News’ reporter Steph McGovern broadcasting live from the show from 6am to 9am before the gates opened. Her interviewees included JCB CEO Alan Blake and Construction Equipment chief executive Rob Oliver.
