Ramboll to design Russian air terminal

4 May 12 Ramboll has been awarded a contract for the design of airport facilities for Nizhny Novgorod International, Russia's fastest growing regional airport.

The project includes a new passenger terminal, a new access road and a parking area. The team of Ramboll and Pascall+Watson competed against Tebodin and Hochtief for the contract.

The customer, International Airport Nizhny Novgorod, is a member of a new airport consortium established in Russia by Koltsovo Ekaterinburg Airport. The airport renovation project includes landside and airport infrastructure upgrades and provision of a new passenger terminal by 2014. There will be further expansion as passenger traffic grows. The airport renovation project is also being closely followed by the state because Nizhny Novgorod will host the FIFA world championship games in 2018.

"This high profile contract represents another positive step forward for our company in the fast-growing Russian aviation market,” said Sergej Juzovitski, managing director of Ramboll in Russia. “The customer acknowledged our successful local and international project experience and the diligent effort our team put into the bid preparation. "This was a true team effort where we showed the customer our professionalism, transparency and sincere engagement. By retaining this attitude throughout the project, we will seek to produce innovative and practical solutions and thereby the added value the customer expects from us."
