This latest package of machines includes three Volvo EC220D (22-tonne) excavators, two of the latest E series EC250E excavators (25-tonne) and an L150H loading shovel, with a 4.2m³ general purpose bucket.

These machines represent a partial replacement plan but also an increase in Raymond Brown overall mobile fleet, as it has recently won more long-term contracts.

Group plant manager Nick Moth said he chose Volvo for their build quality and performance. “We’ve been associated with Volvo equipment for over 25 years,” he said.

The three EC220D excavators will work in an aggregate quarry, a sand and gravel pit and a recycling facility belonging to Raymond Brown. The EC250E excavators and L150H shovel work on long-term contracts processing of incinerator bottom ash (IBA) at locations across Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

The new machines join a Volvo L60F and L90F bought four years ago for Raymond Brown’s recycling facilities at Nursling and Romsey.
