R&D went into administration in April blaming low demand in the housing sector and the impact of a harsh winter.

Trade union Ucatt took the firm to an employment tribunal and successfully argued that R&D had failed to comply with industrial relations law.

The workers can now expect a payout of a few thousand pounds each, to be paid by the Insolvency Service. This is in addition to redundancy payments made earlier this year.
