Rwanda secures funding for water transmission upgrades

9 Jan The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is to providing grant aid for water transmission upgrades that are expected to benefit about 440,000 people in Kigali, Rwanda.

The agreement with the government of Rwanda involves the provision of up to 3.191bn yen (£22.5m) for the strengthening of the largest water transmission pipeline in the capital.

The 35-month project involves upgrades to 9.4km of the pipeline between Nzove and Ntora, the pump equipment and a water reservoir. The aim is to improve social services through improved access to a stable supply of water and stable water services.
