The SGD$555 million (£261m) civil engineering contract also includes associated tunnels. The contract is a part of construction of the 13km east coast stretch of the TEL, which will have nine stations. The section will run through eastern parts of the island, connecting Sungai Bedok in the east with Tanjong Rhu in the west, an area currently not served by MRT. Construction will begin by the first quarter of 2016.
