The eight-storey, 120,000 square foot office building and 271-space multi-storey car park are to be built on the northern part of the site. The development will create an imposing building at the gateway to the evolving North Dee office area and help to set an architectural benchmark for future development there.
Public realm improvements, including the widening of pavements on all frontages of the block, the incorporation of natural granite slabs and benches to pavements and the planting of semi-mature hornbeam trees along the Palmerston, Raik and Stell roads, will be made as part of the development. An electric vehicle charging point is also to be provided.
Development management sub-committee convener Ramsay Milne said: "This is a really exciting development which strongly reinforces the message that business is booming in Aberdeen and we are open for business.
"The city has experienced a considerable amount of business interest in recent times and attracted a very significant number of planning applications for major commercial developments. The EnQuest project is another feather in our cap and I am delighted that we will soon have a high-quality development in the North Dee area.
"The EnQuest building will make fantastic use of a site which has been lying derelict for some time and will no doubt act as a catalyst for driving the regeneration of the area and attracting further office development here."
