Senior demolition experts launch new consultancy

12 Jan 12 Demolition, decommissioning and decontamination experts Martin Bjerregaard, formerly of Golder Associates and Alan Ramsay, formerly DPSi Consulting Engineers, have officially announced their joint business partnership, D3 Consulting Limited.

The new company provides extensive engineering advice, support and management to clients in need of decommissioning, decontamination and demolition by both conventional methods and the controlled use of explosives together with all normal civil and structural consultancy services.

Formed in June 2011, D3 Consulting has already been involved in a number of short-term projects providing engineering and project management services to clients around the UK. Specifically, the company is providing on-site engineering and management services to clients in the Nuclear Industry at several locations and is also providing support and specialist services to clients in North Sea sector oil and gas production.

“Alan and I have strong complementary skills and it was a natural next step for us to combine our expertise and experience to offer clients a full spectrum of decommissioning, decontamination and demolition management and consulting,” explains Martin Bjerregaard, Managing Director of D3 Consulting. “We have been pleased that our offering has had such a positive and enthusiastic response from local authorities, offshore oil and gas and nuclear industries.”

CDM Coordinators and Demolition Consultancy Management

D3 Consulting offers CDM Coordinator services to all types of demolition works as specified under the requirements of the current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.

“We employ highly experienced CDM coordinators who are able to facilitate the safe and successful completion of any type of decommissioning, decontamination, dismantling or demolition project” noted Alan Ramsay, Director of D3 Consulting. “By ensuring that the works are carried out in full compliance, we essentially de-risk our clients' demolition projects.”

Strength to Strength

The consultancy has since been joined full-time by Louise Carter to provide specialist decommissioning and decontamination planning services to the nuclear and waste management sectors and by Kathryn Sentance to provide hazardous waste characterisation services.

“From the outset, we were able to add the appropriate skill set to our in-house capability, thus helping us to provide unsurpassed professional engineering and management services at an affordable cost and within an agreed timescale,” states Bjerregaard. “We are sure this philosophy will be of interest to almost everyone involved in complex demolition projects in the residential, pharmaceutical, nuclear, petro-chemical and offshore industries.”
