We understand that both Kitsons and Silverdell are continuing to trade while the difficulties are sorted out.
On Tuesday this week Silverdell requested a suspension of its shares from trading pending clarification of the group's financial position.
The company would offer no comment but an official statement is expected soon.
Last month Silverdell announced interim results for the six months to 31 March 2013 showing a £1.1m operating loss on turnover of £63.9m.
