Sirius turns to Volvo

6 Aug 13 A desire to cut its fuel costs has prompted Leeds-based land remediation contractor Sirius Group to buy Volvo excavators for the first time.

Sirius has taken four machines as part of a natural replacement programme. They are a 30-tonne EC300D, two 25-tonne EC250Ds and a 22-tonne EC220D.

Operations manager Stuart Kirk said: “Whilst this is the first time we’ve bought Volvos for our plant fleet we are pretty familiar with the product having hired in various models from local hire companies over a period of time and have been impressed with the quality and specification of the machines.

“We had also noted that when comparing like for like the Volvo product offered a significant fuel saving over the competition, so this coupled to our own operators’ acceptance of the product and a competitive package on offer were the deciding factors to opt for Volvo.”
