Sisk begins Canning Town development

15 Dec 10 John Sisk has broken ground on its £47.9m contract to redevelop Rathbone Market in Canning Town, east London.

Sisk is building a 271-apartment mixed use retail and residential development within four buildings, with completion scheduled for August 2012.

The buildings will comprise high-rise blocks of 21 storeys, 12 storeys, 8 storeys and 6 storeys. Retail units, car parking and associated office suites and landscaping also form part of the contract.

This is the first phase, known as Plot One, of a £120m regeneration scheme to transform the historic market area.

It is one of six developments in the UK being delivered as part of a public-private partnership by English Cities Fund (ECf), a joint venture with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Muse Developments and Legal & General.
