Skanska signs contract for Swedish hospital extension

3 Oct 16 Skanska is building new premises at the Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, Sweden, under a contract worth SEK1.2bn (£108m).

The contract signed with Locum is for a new hospital building with a gross floor area of about 29,000m2. It will house facilities including 23 operating rooms and 21 rooms for X-ray examinations.

Skanska, Locum and the Stockholm County Council have set ambitious climate targets for the building, which is expected to be certified in accordance with the Green Building Gold standard.

Construction is expected to be completed 2019.
