Skanska to sell first US commercial development

2 May 12 Skanska has agreed a US$140m (£86m) deal to sell the first US commercial development project completed since it entered the sector in late 2008.

The development at 733 10th Street in Washington, DC is being sold to Jamestown Properties.

Skanska acquired the development rights to the site in October of 2009 and developed the class A, LEED gold office project.

It has a central location five city blocks from the White House and consists of eight storeys of office space totaling about 15,000m2 and about 380m3 of ground-level retail space. The building is close to two Metro stations, retail stores, hotels and restaurants.

“This project demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable office buildings that provide long-term value for investors and healthy, efficient space for tenants,” said Skanska USA Commercial Development CEO Mats Johansson.

In addition to Washington DC, is Skanska USA Commercial Development USA also active in Boston, Seattle and Houston.
