Skanska wins £150m contract for Statoil’s new office

11 Jul 11 Skanska has secured the assignment to build Statoil’s new office in Bergen, Norway.

The NOK1.3bn (£150m) project includes the provision of 55,000m2 of new offices to house 1,100 staff.

"The project for Statoil in Sandsli is one of the largest individual construction contracts we have ever received,” said Skanska Norway president Petter Eiken. “We have put one of our best teams in charge of the project and they are highly motivated to do their utmost. I would like to thank Statoil for its confidence and I’m sure that the project will be a success for all involved parties."

Skanska will implement the project in accordance with its ‘green workplace’ concept. The objective is to reduce energy consumption for lighting and heating in the construction phase. In addition, environmental demands will be placed on vehicles and chemical products.

Construction work will start this month and is estimated to continue until January 2014. At peak, about 300 people will be involved in the project.
