2 Oct 15 Balfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution business has secured a new framework agreement with Western Power Distribution for excavation, cable laying and reinstatement works in South Wales.

Balfour Beatty has signed an initial three year contract, worth £37.5m, to manage planned and reactive low voltage to 33Kv cabling works, starting from 1st November 2015.

Subject to performance, there is an option to extend the agreement for a further two years, taking the overall potential value to around £62m over five years.

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution managing director Neil Kirkby said: “Securing this new framework agreement is once again recognition of the capability and expertise we bring to the industry. We have worked with Western Power Distribution for over 20 years and we’re looking forward to continuing this relationship.

Balfour Beatty expects the contract to support approximately 170 jobs, with 90% directly employed by the company.
