Spain awards high-speed rail tunnelling contract

30 Jun 15 Isolux Corsán has won a €79m (£56m) construction contract on the Bergara-Mondragón, Angiozar section of high-speed railway in the Spanish province of Guipuzcoa.

The work is part of the Vitoria-Bilbao-San Sebastian line of the the high-speed railway (AVE).

The work, which is scheduled to take three and a half years, includes the construction of four tunnels of almost 2km. In addition, Isolux Corsán will develop a 1.75km outdoor platform as part of the project

The stretch of AVE that Isolux Corsán will work on is part of the 'Knot Bergara' within the 'Basque Y' section of the work. The section, developed by the Ministry of Public Works & Transport, has an overall cost of €266m.
