The agreement will see Speedy supply Thames Water ‘Tier one’ contractors working on its AMP5 (Asset Management Plan 5 – a capital investment plan), which is valued at £5.5 billion. During this five year period Speedy will also have the opportunity to support Thames Water in its Capital Projects including the Thames Tideway Tunnel and Crossness Sewage Treatment Works projects.
Speedy has previously supported several Thames Water contractors directly under the AMP4 and other investment and renewal programmes; this award encompasses a more collaborative approach to a planned equipment management programme between client, contractor and equipment supplier.
Speedy has been awarded the largest value on offer winning three of the five equipment lots available including Pneumatic Tools, Materials Handling, and Other Site Essentials (includes lighting, fencing and surveying equipment). As part of its service provision and continued extension of its managed services offering, Speedy will act as a managing agent for a number of third party equipment providers in areas such as trench boxes and piling accessories.
All contractors will benefit from a dedicated hire desk at Speedy, specialist depots to funnel products and services when required and access to Speedy’s market leading extranet system to better manage their hire needs online.
Speedy & Thames estimate the value of the contract over the five year period will be up to £45 million.
